For today’s post I thought I would chat about how I became a reader, a book nerd, and a book blogger. This is going to be a long post so get a cup of coffee and a sweet snack.
When I was younger I loved the idea of books. I would buy some but I would never read them. I just put them in the back of my closet and forget about them. Insane, right? But in the 8th grade I saw the movie Twilight with my sisters and fell in loved with the world of vampires like most people did. My older sister let me read her copy of Twilight and I was hooked. Every weekend I would take my ten dollar allowance to the bookstore to buy a paperback book. Back in the day you could get a paperback for about $10! Man…the times have change and before anyone asks I am only 22 years old. I am NOT THAT OLD!
Ahem! Back to the books…
Twilight opened my world up to Young Adult Literature and books. I am forever grateful to the Twilight Saga for helping me become a reader. I know that Twilight have some issues but without these books I wouldn’t be here today. Books became my safe haven and my friends. Around the age of 15 I started to have mental health issues such as anxiety and depression which I still deal with today but books help me survive my problems.
Soo…my reading journey starts to change around 11th-12th grade because I didn’t read as much but I loved writing and my English/Literature classes. I was more focused on my studies at that time but once again when I needed books they were there for me. A lot happened during the summer of my Senior year such as my parents moved houses, I was getting ready for University, and stuff like that. So I started reading Young Adult Literature once again and I haven’t stopped since. Books have been with me through my highs and lows. I am forever grateful to the authors who creates these fictional worlds.
You may be wondering when I started book blogging well I was 19 years old when I joined the Booklr community.
It is the book community on tumblr and this was my gateway into book blogging. I made a lot of blogger friends through booklr! They supported me when I started blogging here and bookstagraming which is posting about books on Instagram.
Being a reader is who I am and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I want to know how you became a reader. So leave me a comment below! Thank you for reading and I will post again on Saturday!
