“When pleased, I beat like a drum. When sad, I break like glass. Once stolen, I can never be taken back. What am I?”
Marissa Meyer, Heartless

I don’t even know where to start! This book is SO G O O D! If you want to know if you should read this book then YES! You don’t even need to read this spoil free review because I am just going to fangirl! (But it would be really nice if you did read it so we can fangirl together!) I highly recommend this book. It gives you a creative and fun inside look into the world of Wonderland.

This is a story about the Red Queen before she became the Queen. It will blow your mind and make you feel all of the feels. Not only is this the story about how she become the Red Queen it gives back story to other characters such the Mad Hatter which is one of the best back stories I have ever read. You will also met new characters like Jest the King’s Court Jester. All of the characters stories help create the main plot and add to Lewis  Carroll’s Alice and Wonderland. It is magical!

The writing is wonderful! It is pretty but simple and there are so many creative lines/quotes. I want to list some of my favorite lines because it is to good not too! (Don’t worry – no spoilers for the plot.)

  • “But hoping,” he said, “is how the impossible can be possible after all.”
  • “It is a dangerous thing to unbelieve something only because it frightens you.”
  • “The easiest way to steal something, is for it to be given willingly.”
  • Sometimes your heart is the only thing worth listening to.”
  •    “Perhaps we know each other in the future and you’re only remembering backward.”

I feel like I could talk for hours but I don’t want to spoil anyone but If you want me to write a post about all of my  thoughts and feelings that contains spoilers then let me know in the comments below because I have a lot to say about the ending! If you haven’t read it I highly recommend it.
