“I wanted a love thick with time, as inscrutable as if a lathe had carved it from night and as familiar as the marrow in my bones. I wanted the impossible, which made it that much easier to push out of my mind.”
Roshani Chokshi, The Star-Touched Queen

My older sister gave me this book for Christmas and I was so happy to receive it. I have been waiting to read it for awhile now but I just haven’t gotten the chance to buy it. I have heard lots of different things about this book. Some people hated it while others loved it. I was so ready to read and create my own opinion on this beautiful book. Well….it was amazing! I couldn’t put it down. I think I read it in two days because it was just wonderful. This story is basically about a girl with a bad horoscope, a arrange-wedding, dealing with human’s fate, and reincarnation.

The writing is out of this world!! Even if you don’t like the story you will have to say that the writing is lovely. It is like poetry in story form (that is not a good way to explain it but hopefully you will get what I mean). I am not sure if this book is based on something or not but regardless it is heart-wrenching.

Lets talk pros and cons:

Pros:

  • Out of this world writing
  • Relatable main character
  • Cool and unique story
  • Great plot pacing
  • Zero-few plot holes

Cons:

  • Guessable plot lines at times
  • Ending is a bit rushed

I gave this book 5 stars because while I felt like the ending was rushed everything else about this book out shined this small fact. If this was a stand-alone book it wouldn’t have gotten this high of a rating. I am so excited for the next book and the short story that is also coming out this year. I am so ready!

I highly recommend this book. It is fun, breath-taking, and beautiful! When I want a book that is more fantasy but the love story isn’t a subplot then this a perfect book for that. Please give this book a go and I hope you will love it as much as I do!
