Editing Photos

Since so many of you want to know how I edit my photos I thought I would just write a blog post about it! I am not sure how helpful this will be but I am going to go through my editing process. If you want tips on how I take my photo then please check out this post, Tips – Photos.

Disclaimer! I am not a Professional Photographer!

Overall Questions

I only use Instagram to edit my photos so no other editing apps.

I don’t have a camera just my iPhone 5c.

I like to take my photos on semi-cloudy days and in the mid-mornings/early afternoons.

I use two filters when editing my photos but which filter you use depends on the type of ‘style’ or ‘look’ you want your photos to have. Bright photos? Darker photos? Filters can make photos warmer in tones or cooler so make sure you know the ‘look’ you are going for.

Sometimes it will take a few times to find a filter(s) you like but just play around with different ones.

Make sure your photos are at a good angle. You can always zoom in or crop the photo if needed. Sometimes I take a far away shot and when editing I realize that I want it to be zoomed in.

I always tone down the brightness in my photos. I think it make my photos more magical but please make sure your photos aren’t dark because if you can’t see anything within the photos then it isn’t the best.

If you want your photos to look darker you still need good lighting because you will darken the photos during the editing process.

Once again I always darken the shadows because it is my style but I cannot stress enough if you want a dark photo you still need good lighting for the photo to show up.  Don’t take your photos in the dark.

Most of the time I lower the highlights.

If you have a glare in your photo then the highlight will make it worse. So, be careful! Check out my tips for “How to Take Photos” for my advice on stopping glares.

I am not 100% sure what this is really meant to do but I love to use for sharping book titles and other little details. it helps make it clear.

I hope that this post have been helpful! If you have any questions then please leave a comment or send me a DM  on Instagram.
